August is a popular month for the shedding of clothes and the relaxed enjoyment of our nudity. The weather alone is a prime reason for this "clothes-free" season. Most of us are bare whenever we're around water, ocean, pool, lake and/or river. The convenience of being naked without the hassle of having an item of covering to worry about or bother with makes perfect sense.
So what is the attraction with shaving our body hair? In my humble opinion, a shaved body only serves to highlight our barrenness. Smooth is what we all are prior to puberty. I prefer the vestiges of maturity: body hair.
For example, pubic hair has some men concerned that it visually "shrinks" the visual size of their manhood - penis. Actually, the visibility of pubic hair not only affirms their gender but it also conveys to others their confidence in their nudity.
