HIV can be prevented by taking precautions and through education.

HIV and some other STIs are transmitted by:

Naturist or Nudist?

Please take a moment and look at the photograph above and the one below. I have a few questions for you and they are: Of the two biological brothers (Darius and Devon King with Island Studios) pictured, which one of them is a naturist? Which one of them is a nudist? How do you make that determination? Is there really any difference? And now finally: Does it truly matter? Believe it or not, to some, it makes all the difference in the world. Even though we can all agree that they're both naked.

Naturist is considered a person who lives as close to nature or the natural state as possible. This includes being naked or clothes-free. A nudist is considered to be a person who chooses to be nude or without clothes. A fine line? Probably. Generally, a nudist is naked by choice; a naturist is naked by a commitment to a lifestyle that is more than just not wearing clothes (such as diet, transportation, etc.).

A nudist is more than likely to be someone who merely prefers to be naked in private or in social situations. This is where the term "social nudism" or "social nudity" possibly originated. It's possible for a naturist to also be a nudist. A naturist usually incorporates environmentally conscious life choices into their daily rituals and practices. Some naturists may opt for a communal style living atmosphere.

There are among the clothes-free community persons who hold to a very strict and dogmatic adherence to these differences. There are nudists who are very emphatic about their identity. The same is true for serious naturists. The differences may seem petty to some. However, for the die-hards of both camps, there is a line that separates the one from the other.

On the other hand, there are those (myself included), who use the two terms interchangeably and make no real distinction between the two. In this blog, I'll use both labels in reference to those who prefer to enjoy life, whenever possible, without clothing. I mean no disrespect to either naturists or nudists. After all, it is an individuals prerogative to self-identify in whatever way they so desire. I self-identify as both making no preference for either one. My personal feeling: why split the proverbial pubic hair?

Why address this issue at all if it makes no difference to me?  First, out of respect to those who do value the differences. Secondly, so that everyone who reads this journal understands the distinctions. And the final reason is that as of this publishing, I've already received  emails from two individuals (remarkable given the small readership thus far) who are exploring the social naturist/nudist life. It's the old "educator" role coming to the surface. I've been teaching now for a total of ten years. Old habits die hard.

Blogging Without Boxers

My intention is for Guys Without Boxers to be an online journal. A collection of thoughts, ideas, sentiments and feelings mixed with some personal experiences. A window on life from the perspective of a man who is both a gay and a nudist. I'm not claiming any authority from either the same gender loving community or the naturist/nudist community. I don't have that right. I'm nothing more than a thirty-something everyday working man trying to survive in this often confusing and conflicting world.

One of the ways that I'm able to survive, aside from my hobbies and sports outlets, is through the camaraderie, fellowship, love and support that I receive from the queer nude fraternity. This brotherhood isn't formal or structured; it's the informal association and involvement with those I believe to be most like myself.

I hope that Guys Without Boxers allows me to share that message with others who may be the same as well as to those who are genuinely exploring their own sexuality or a sincere interest in nudity. In line with this goal, I imagine that this blog serves as an educational or outreach tool as well as a journal. I'm not inflating my role as the author; I'm merely being a realist. When folks question, they seek answers and resources. I know that I needed a reference source when I realized that I'm gay and later when I acknowledged that I'm a nudist.

In addition, I trust that those reading here are entertained. No, I'm not a comedian although I do appreciate humor. The entertainment value is in reading and reflecting upon the subjects covered on this page. My first purpose is to provoke the thought process and then add some fun into the mix. I've found a grin is as good on occasion as a hundred words.

Finally, I plan to follow a publication schedule. Random posts are fine and I'll use them as needed. But having a fixed, set agenda works best for me. I have a life outside of blogging so this method helps me to plan my time accordingly. I expect to publish an entry to Guys Without Boxers every weekend, either Saturday or Sunday. Therefore, my next article will appear during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Whenever possible, I may enter a holiday greeting on the appropriate days.

Thanks for your visiting here.

Strip First!

This is a blog, an online journal, about nakedness. Well, to be honest, it's about being gay and being naked. But for starters, let's deal with what is easily controlled and that is the issue of clothes. There are two choices: wear them or not wear them. It's cut and dry and not confusing. Since this is a diary of nudity, let's get naked. I am right night now clothes-free and I trust you are the same. This way, we're both equal and the same.

Clothes conceal. They cover up our true selves, our physical bodies. They hide what makes us all the same, our nudity. Our physical forms may be a little different: some of us are hairy, some aren't. A few of us have large cocks, the rest of us have moderate or smaller penises. Others are muscular and then there are those who aren't. But if we're naked, we're basically all the same. When I'm naked in the company of my gay nudist brothers, my masculinity is obvious for all to see. I'm being honest and not attempting to present myself as something that I'm not.

If at all possible, strip off those damn garments that bury all your natural beauty, your birth-right, and join me in being naked while you're here. If you aren't already a nudist, then consider this an introduction into the nude world. If you're already a nudist, then you should be completely comfortable and feel right at home.

Why did I choose the title, Guys Without Boxers? A little play on being naked. When I have to wear clothes, I prefer boxer underwear (let the boys hang free). Therefore, when I'm nude, obviously, I'm a guy without boxers (and briefs, for that matter).
